Cullen Ryan

Came in 7th place in his third grade spelling bee

what are your most memorable Performances?

Opening for Sean Patton at 'The Plus', also headlining my own show in 2016.

What's your most cringe-worthy moment?

When I was 5 years old, I dropped an axe on my foot and cut off my big toe right after my dad said "Hey, don't play with that axe."

what weirds you out?

I don't understand how any human being could like skydiving, like what the **** are you doing?

what's your Favorite Food?

Tacos, baby! It's versatile, it's delicious, it's always great. Anybody who says pizza is a liar.

What is Clear Water Comedy to you?

I want it to be the place where you can get your start and feel comfortable, and where you do your first ever headline set. I believe very strongly in our mission statement that we can be the best small city in the country for comedy. I really think we're on our way.

Christina Wolff

Femme Power Pizza & Pizzaz

what are your most memorable Performances?

My favorite performance was opening for Aparna Nancherla, but my favorite part was sitting with her and the other comedians that were on the show at a table and quietly working on our sets with small breaks to talk about how much we love our cats or dogs.

What's your most cringe-worthy moment?

Everything I do is elegant and understated and I've never been embarrassed in my life. I've never tripped or farted at an inopportune time.

What is Clear Water Comedy to you?

To me it is a group of comedians who get together to write jokes about how crystal and sparkling our H2O is.

what's your Favorite Food?

My favorite food is all the food…I love food and trying new foods but ice cream has definitely stuck with me throughout the years as a number one great thing to shove into my mouth and belly.

what weirds you out?

Getting up on a stage with a mic and talking about your life and other stupid, silly things and somehow people want to watch and don't think your an idiot but instead laugh. It's wonderful and still surprises me every time it happens.

Jordan James Duroe

Papa loves his little lions

What are your most memorable Performances?

Getting to open for Joe Mande was the biggest thrill for me because I love his first standup album and Parks and Rec — which Joe was a writer for several seasons — is easily my all-time favorite show, so I got to talk to him a bit about Parks after the show and in general I just got to meet and share the stage with someone I greatly admire, which was really exciting. Outside of that, my first headlining set at The Plus the day after my 30th birthday... it was honestly one of the best nights of my life. It was such a challenge to put together my first ever hour of comedy and getting to perform it was so fun. Making strangers and friends alike laugh is always a good feeling, and that night was especially sweet.

What is Clear Water Comedy to you?

The simple answer is that I want us to be in the business of joy. I want the audiences who come to have fun, to make memories with their friends and/or family, and for the comedians to have a great time performing here as well. I want to see everyone who comes to a CWC show or does standup at a CWC show to leave smiling and feeling good.

What's your Favorite Food?

Anyone who knows me knows the answer is pizza.

What's your most cringe-worthy moment?

Doing comedy means you have a million cringe-worthy moments because even your best sets can have jokes, riffs, or moments that just don't work like you wanted them to…and those are the best sets! Then there are the sets where nothing goes right at all, haha.

my stand out example of this would be a set I performed at a golf course during a fundraiser dinner and show. I was the opener and thought I'd play to the crowd a bit with some golf zingers assuming there'd be a lot of golfers there. I got on a mic and asked, "so we got some golfers here tonight?!" and NOBODY clapped. I was really green at the time so instead of calling an audible I just launched into the golf jokes I'd been rehearsing anyways. Needless to say, five minutes of shaky golf jokes to a hundred or so non-golfers didn't go super well.

what weirds you out?

I hate those weird ad links at the bottom of the page on a lot of websites and online news articles, usually showing some disgusting picture of a gross malady or some other awful thing. That said, if hosting those links on the bottom of a website generates revenue I hope we have some on here. Scroll down for diseased toes and make us some money!

Mackenzie Bublitz

got recognized for comedy at planned parenthood once

what are your most memorable Performances?

Opening for Kyle Kinane, Sean Patton, and Aparna Nancherla — those were all super fun and cool shows.

What's your most cringe-worthy moment?

I had this sexy baby joke I kept on trying to make work for a while. I thought it was so funny, it was about being on a really bad date with a guy who treated me like I was an idiot, so I responded by talking like a sexy baby. Eventually I gave it up, because like several different people told me it made them uncomfortable.

what weirds you out?

Unsolved murders. Like please please please somebody find the Golden State Killer. I'm looking at you, California. Do you have a weird neighbor in his late 60's? Get his DNA off a soda can because he might be the golden state killer.

What's your Favorite Food?

Pasta with butter spray and Parmesan forever and ever.

What is Clear Water Comedy to you?

Clear Water Comedy is literally the best thing. When I started going to open mic back in the summer of 2014, I had no idea I was about to discover not only a whole new career path but also an amazing group of cool, hard-working people who are passionate about comedy and community. The fact that we've been able to bring in such big names and consistently put on quality shows, and we get to do this all in a city that is not a big city, it blows my mind everyday. Eau Claire is a really special place.

Ryan Kahl

Official Mayor of Eau Claire

What are your most memorable Performances?

When Rory Scovel was here and then in Minneapolis, those were the two best shows I was a part of.

What's your most cringe-worthy moment?

We used to do a comedy pub crawl downtown, and one of the shows was here. The room had been booked out by a birthday party beforehand, so there were people waiting to be seated, and the birthday party was supposed to leave. They would not leave. I was the first comic who went onstage, and I was like 'Give it up for yourselves for coming out, we're really happy to have all you guys here… except for these dumb assholes!' as I was pointing to the birthday party… I've never seen Benny (Haas) that mad… They walked out on their tab.

what's your Favorite Food?

I'm gonna have the same one as Jordan here and probably just go with pizza…. We've done the 'Pizza vs Tacos' show before.

what weirds you out?

Being a person who was raised in a blue-collar upbringing and then voting against your own self-interests… If they would just listen to Bruce Springsteen they would understand!

What is Clear Water Comedy to you?

When I first started coming down to The Plus, I was 21 and I'd been doing open mics in Rochester for a year. And really all we wanted was to expand, we wanted it to be a destination for comics, and a room that they would want to be in. And we've done that.

Hannah Kabelitz

board-certified hooligan

what is your most memorable Performance?

My first performance was pretty important to me, I did 5 minutes opening for Emma Arnold.

What's your most cringe-worthy moment?

I was taking a physics class, and we had a lab, and I was partnered with this guy. I noticed he was writing with his left hand, and I was like 'Hey! We're both left-handed!' and it turned out that he was born without a right hand, so he just kind of held up his right arm. I had to be his partner for the next two hours.

what weirds you out?

Accessories for dogs. They're more for the humans than the dogs.

What is Clear Water Comedy to you?

I think it's always been a source of encouragement for me because I definitely consider myself self-critical. The first night that I came and did open mic, I came by myself. I didn't tell my friends I was going because if I did terribly, no one would ever know. And even though I did absolutely terribly, the comedians in the audience said I did a good job and to keep trying, and they gave me specific advice. Clear Water Comedy has just definitely been a non-competitive outlet for me. It's more of a supporting environment.

Jack Ross

Has the world record for somersaults

what is your most memorable Performance?

When I hosted the Josh Gondelman show at The Plus.

what weirds you out?

Pet names for your significant other, like 'snookums' and 'baby'. 'Baby' weirds me out because that's like… an infant.

What is Clear Water Comedy to you?

It's given me a creative outlet, and it's taken me out of my shell. I've met basically half the people I know now through comedy. I've become a better conversationalist, just having to be random on stage. I think it's going to a mainstay in Eau Claire, it's just another artistic creative thing for the city.

Wayne Dallman

Grape Nuts Nut

what is your most memorable Performance?

I got to open for stewart huff, that was one of my favorite performances.

what's your favorite food?

Cereal, specifically Rice Krispies and Grape Nuts mixed together.

what weirds you out?

There are a lot of ads out there that say stuff like 'Up to $10 or more.' And that means literally any number that exists. 'Up to $10' means any number before that, and 'or more' means any number after that.

What is Clear Water Comedy to you?

It's the first group to my knowledge to just be doing comedy in a professional way in Eau Claire. When I was back in college, there wasn't anything like this here. I had to wait until I was 35 before there was anything in town like this. Then just starting to bring on actual comedians for shows. Being funny is difficult, and the people who do it work very hard at it. I enjoy being a fan of it and I enjoy being a small part of it

Eric Christianson

Red & White Wine Enthustiast Only

what is your most memorable Performance?

Probably opening for Sean Patton because it was one of our first really big shows, it went great, and then he signed a poster for me that said "Hey Eric, FUCK YOU! -Sean Patton."

What is Clear Water Comedy to you?

I love it because it's a bunch of friends making cool stuff happen together. The love we have for each other and the work we're doing comes through and audiences can feel it I think. I'm pretty floored by what we've been able to accomplish by makin' people smile, eruptin' joy, and spreadin' good vibes all over this dang city. And it only goes up from here.

what's your favorite food?

Burgers. It's the best food on the planet. I'll eat burgers from gas stations, idgaf.

What's your most cringe-worthy moment?

I went curling with a bunch of my co-workers and ripped my pants from crotch to knee and everyone got to see the real me.

what weirds you out?

The fact that Netflix doesn't let you watch The Office on shuffle.
